Director of Business Development

Bio

As Director of Business Development – International Workforce Solutions at People2.0, I help UK recruitment and staffing businesses expand internationally, enter new markets and manage their global contingent workforce.

I’ve spent 18+ years specialising in the UK recruitment and contingent workforce solutions sector, building extensive knowledge and expertise around the needs of recruitment businesses, their clients and the workers they support. That experience has given me a deep understanding of the commercial and workforce challenges recruiters face, and today I’m taking that knowledge and experience to the international stage.

My focus is supporting UK recruitment businesses looking to enter, grow and service their clients across AMER, LATAM, EMEA and APAC, providing access to the workforce infrastructure, compliance expertise and local capabilities needed to turn international opportunities into sustainable growth.

Three Fun Facts About Me

1) I’m an avid Aston Villa fan albeit I’m more of an armchair fan these days!
2) I used to play semi-professional rugby for Birkenhead Park
3) I keep quails!

What's a hobby or interest you've always wanted to pursue but haven't had the chance to yet?

Golf! ⛳

I’ve always wanted to properly learn how to play. I’ve tried my hand at it and even went as far as having private lessons, so you can’t say I haven’t made an effort!

For one reason or another, life always seems to get in the way… although, if I’m being completely honest, that’s probably just the excuse I use. The reality is I’m seriously lacking in finesse, patience and possibly natural ability! 😂

Still, I haven’t officially given up. One day I might even make it around 18 holes without losing my temper, my ball, or both!

If you could eat one type of cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Sunday roast dinners. I’ve thought this through… possibly too much. 😂

Roast beef and Yorkshire puddings would be my first choice, but the beauty of a roast is the variety: different meats, veg, roasties, gravy, bread sauce, English mustard, mint sauce. You’re never getting bored.

I’m also interpreting “cuisine” very generously to include dessert, so my mum’s chocolate bread and butter pudding or pecan pie is coming with me. And naturally, we finish with a cheese board.

At this point, I’m not answering an icebreaker. I’m negotiating the terms of my lifelong food contract.

What's the best piece of career advice you've ever received, and who gave it to you?

Be yourself. Be honest. Stay humble. And always be kind.

It might not sound like groundbreaking career advice, but it’s probably the advice that has stayed with me the most. Careers have plenty of ups and downs, but people tend to remember how you made them feel long after they’ve forgotten your job title.

As for who gave it to me, I’d probably say it’s less advice from one particular person and more something I’ve learned from the people who’ve influenced me throughout my career and life.

If you could master any skill instantly, what would it be?

Mind reading. 100%.

Just think of the possibilities. No second-guessing, no mixed signals and no wondering what someone really meant by that email or text message!

Although knowing my luck, I’d master it and immediately realise I never actually wanted to know what everyone was thinking in the first place! 😂
