Employees are entitled to holiday, sick, maternity, parental, and special event leave, which includes 7 days for marriage, death, serious illness, childbirth (paid by the employer), and 1 day for blood donation leave (also paid by the employer).

Minimum Wage Requirements
As of 2025, the national minimum wage in Croatia is €970 per month, that is 11,640 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.
Medical Benefits
Employees are entitled to 70% of their average wage for the first 42 days of sick leave and 100% of their average wage when the sickness is the result of a work accident, homeland war, complications during pregnancy, donating organs and nursing a sick child up to the age of 3 years old. The first 42 days are covered by the employer. Following the 42 days, the remuneration is covered by the Croatian health insurance fund and the employer is reimbursed for the covered period.
Probationary Periods
The probationary period is 6 months maximum.
Termination Notice
The statutory notice periods depends on the lenght of service and are:
2 weeks for employees with a maximum of continuous service for the same employer less than a year;
1 month for employees with 1 year of continuous service for the same employer;
1 month and 2 weeks for employees with 2 years of continuous service for the same employer;
2 months for employees with 5 years of continuous service for the same employer;
2 months and 2 weeks for employees with 10 years of continuous service for the same employer;
3 months for employees with over 20 years of continuous service for the same employer.
The notice period referred to above for a worker who has spent 20 years of continuous employment with the same employer is increased by 2 weeks if the worker has reached 50 years of age, and by 1 month if he has reached 55 years of age.
An employee needs to give a minimum of 30 days notice.
Severance
If the Employee has worked for 2 continuous years, he/she is entiteld to severance pay equivalent to an amount determined based on the lenght of service.
Severance pay for each year of employment, with the same employer, cannot not be lower than 1/3 of the average monthly salary earned by the worker in a period of 3 months prior to the termination of the employment contract.
Pre-hire Checks
Immigration and right to work checks are required to verify that an individual is legally authorized to work in the country, often involving checking the validity of work permits or residency status for foreign nationals.
