Employment Contracts

There are no state-mandated requirements for employment contracts or policies. However, due to the protections provided by the Montana Wrongful Discharge from Employment Act (WDEA) (Mont. Code Ann. §§ 39-2-901 et seq.), it is in the best interest of both employers and employees to clearly understand and, in some cases, document the terms of employment, particularly regarding the probationary period and grounds for termination.
