General Data Protection Regulation
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which went into effect May 25, 2018, creates consistent data protection rules across Europe. It applies to all companies that process personal data about individuals in the EU, regardless of where the company is based. Processing is defined broadly and refers to anything related to personal data, including how a company handles and manages data, such as collecting, storing, using and destroying data.
In the event of a data breach, the point of contact from People 2.0 is the Chief Legal Officer, who is also our Data Protection Officer. They will invoke the data control procedure with our Chief Technology Officer, as required. Then we will report the breach to the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of the organization becoming aware of it. We will notify affected venues within 48 hours of becoming aware of the breach.
At People 2.0, we’ve agreed our data retention period will be no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it was processed. This means we will delete employee data after a certain amount of years of inactivity. If you want to delete your data prior to our policy, please email email@example.com. We will not retain personal information longer than necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it is processed, including the security of our processing complying with legal and regulatory obligations (e.g. audit, accounting and statutory retention terms), handling disputes, and for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims in the countries where we do business.
We work to protect your personal information from loss, misuse or unauthorized alteration by using industry-standard security safeguards, coupled with security procedures and practices. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with applicable laws and standards. We use both internal and external resources to review our security procedures. Access to security logs are strictly controlled within our development team, we follow advice from Microsoft as to when security patches should be applied, and we use software to monitor for unauthorized intrusion attempts. Your sensitive information is encrypted when it is transmitted to us. Our employees are trained and required to safeguard your information.
